Writing and Editing Links

Australian Writers’ Centre (AWC) – The AWC provide writing courses across a range of topics (both fiction and non-fiction) that can be completed either face-to-face or online.

The Australian Writer’s Marketplace – Provides a directory of contacts, writing advice, writing courses and workshops, community forums and more.

Emerging Writers’ Festival – The Emerging Writers’ Festival exists to promote and support new writers. The festival features, writers, editors, publishers and literary performers.

First Site Guide – A website dedicated to providing information on how to go about starting a blog. Rife with interviews, news and marketing articles, First Site Guide is the perfect resource for those wanting to know more about the digital world, and they even have a free eBook that you can download here: How to Start a Blog: The Beginner’s Guide to Successful Blogging.

Gold Coast Writers’ Festival – The Gold Coast Writers’ Festival takes place in June each year and brings together talented authors.

Indigenous Literacy Foundation – The Indigenous Literacy Foundation supports Indigenous children by providing books and resources to communities with the goal of achieving higher literacy levels among Indigenous Australians.

The NSW Writers’ Centre – The NSW Writers’ Centre runs workshops, seminars and courses for writers as well as providing services and support to writers in NSW.

Sydney Writers’ Festival – The Sydney Writers’ Festival takes place every year for a week in May. There are a few hundred events that take place, featuring some of the world’s best-known literary minds.


Natalie Sutherland – Natalie writes content for both print and digital and for organisations big and small. She writes anything from website content, blogs, articles, editorial content, marketing copy and corporate documents. When Natalie isn’t copywriting she is writing fiction – some of her short stories have been published in Australian creative journals and magazines.

Greg Wilcox – Greg’s clients are small to medium-size businesses, and they include everyone from graphic designers, IT specialists and pizzerias through to digital marketing agencies.


O.E. Boroni – Omoye Boroni currently resides in the United Kingdom and her debut novel The Beginning of Never was released on 28 April 2015.

Ram Castillo – Ram Castillo is an award winning Senior Designer, Art Director, Blogger, CreativeLive Instructor and Author of the internationally acclaimed book: How to get a job as a designer, guaranteed. He’s based in Sydney, Australia and in 2012, started the blog which helps thousands of design students and graduates to pursue employment.

Fiona Crotty-Smith – Fiona Crotty-Smith is the author of the heartwarming children’s story Monty the Pound Pup that came about from her own love of animals and was influenced by her very own dog Monty, who she adopted from a shelter.

Jonathan Elsom – Jonathan Elsom is an actor, sculptor and artist as well as an author of short stories. Elsom’s first collection of short stories, Sinking Violet and Other Stories can be purchased in eBook format as well as hard copy. You can also read snippets of his work on Medium.

Paul Ikin – Paul Ikin is an emerging writer and author of the debut novel, The Other Side of Eve, a Middle Grade – YA Fantasy novel that is available for purchase now! Paul is based in Melbourne Australia and works a day job in the CBD, dreaming of escape.

Kristy Leigh Long – Kristy Leigh Long is the author of the Little Lily series with the first story Little Lily Loves Green available for purchase now!

Julie Proudfoot – Julie Proudfoot is a fiction writer who lives in Bendigo, Victoria. She blogs on her favourite passages of writing here and also on the goings on of her hometown, Bendigo here. Please stop by to say hi, she’s always up for a chat on anything writing! Julie’s debut novel The Neighbour was a Seizure La Novella prize winner and is available for purchase now.

Rob Towner – Rob Towner is a writer and illustrator of children’s books. ‘Making kids smile is my business and I have found that there is no better way to turn a frown upside down than to be lost inside a book.’
